I thought I would make a stool to match the recent wire legged table. So I did.
Gosh it is good to finally get back to do some work. And to complete this table - I was busy making the legs for this one a few weeks ago when I had my unscheduled visit to the emergency department at hospital !
But it was worth the wait, this combination of wood, steel and copper is just beautiful . . . Neat little table on four legs, kind of nautical in feel. All recycled, the legs are rimu, the map is of Auckland and is sealed in against spills etc . . . nice!
Still another week of enforced idleness to go. So frustrating, but some cheese and cumin seed scones should help . . .
Here is the recipe if you fancy making them yourself - When I'm bored I make soup Life. Strange really - one minute you are happily working away, next thing you feel like a javelin has struck through your chest, they suggest that your wife not leave your side just yet, and then you are on a plane to Wellington Hospital Cardiac Unit to have an angiogram and a stent fitted.
I am back home now but there will be a slight delay in production whilst I recover fully - to be honest it was all so fast that what has happened is only just sinking in now, several days later. 6.30am. The world has turned once more and Spring surrounds me.
A new season of craft fairs is about to begin. Nicola and myself will next be at the Underground Market in Wellington on the 27th and 28th of September (wearable arts weekend). If you are in the area pop by and say hello - we would love to meet you. |
